Q. What does Em-Four stand for or mean, Who or what is Em-Four?
  • A. Em-Four Pty Limited is a company composed of former police officers and court staff, each of whom have extensive adult education qualifications and experience. The company operates at three levels:
  • It provides training and advice consistent with the needs of employer groups in the area of Enforcement Management for their organisation;
  • It provides the practical skills and knowledge for individuals in order to carry out their assigned task - that is in Field Operations; and
  • The core business in this field is Urban Regulation through the many and varied laws expected to be enforced.
  • This integration of levels merge is EMFOUR.

Q. What financial incentives are available for training

  • A. Comprehensive information on available traineeship incentives can be found by following this link

Q. How do Em-Four’s courses compare to those existing now or previously available from exclusive organisations?

  • A. Em-Four is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that provides VETAB accredited courses in this area. We operate in all States and Territories of Australia.

Our programs meet and/or exceed the standards required for the issue of the various qualifications on our scope of registration within the nationally endorsed Training Package/s. The major difference now, is that Em-Four, as a national RTO, can provide not only the standard courses, but also customised and higher level courses.

Compared to equivalent courses, Em-Four provides a more comprehensive program. Our course materials, manuals and other resources are up-to-date, and we review and improve each course through student and client feedback, as well as including up-to-the-minute changes in law and procedure.

We have recently undergone an external audit and will be auditing annually to maintain corporate standards that meet ANTA's AQTF standards and our customer service commitments.

Q. If we have a large number of staff to be trained, do we have to send them one by one to your public courses over a period of time, or can we get them trained in groups that suit our organisation?

  • A. Em-Four provides both options to clients. If you have a small contingent of staff, then we advise you to enrol them in our public courses, together with students from other locations.

There are benefits in that these students can develop their own professional networks with other students and learn from the examples and experiences of the other students.

We also provide private courses to larger organisations directly, the benefit with this option is that a large group of staff are trained simultaneously in the same policy directives and can therefore be deployed sooner.

The training is also customised to the organisation's internal policies - so the courses complement other training already being conducted.

Q. How many staff are required for an in-house course, and are there any financial incentives for my budget?

  • A. As Em-Four courses are resource intensive, with an emphasis on individual development, costs prohibit us to minimum class sizes of 11 students. We can conduct courses for smaller numbers, but the cost per head of student may increase correspondingly. Numbers beyond 11 will attract substantial and generous discounts.

The ideal class sizes are 15 but we can cater for a maximum of 24. Additional discounts are provided where the client provides the training venue and catering. As Em-Four comes to you, additional savings are had in not having to pay for transportation of staff, additional days lost in travelling to/from remote locations, and the costs associated with accommodation. Using traditional methods of training the real cost per student being trained can be as much as 400% higher than via the method we offer.

Q. Can you customise your courses to suit our needs?

  • A. At Em-Four, we provide a guarantee of quality (AQTF standards) that includes not compromising on the essentials.

We can and will customise the curriculum to reflect the training needs of the client group, and we consult with the client in order to identify particular needs or concerns that are specific to them. We can incorporate organisations procedures and documentation into the training.

We can also provide short courses but these may or may not encompass a single unit of competency and any qualification will therefore be limited to a "Statement of Attainment" or "Statement of Achievement". In order for students to be issued with full qualifications (e.g. Certificate IV in Government), then the entire program must be completed — by standard course delivery or combinations of some coursework plus recognition. ( See RPL and RCC below).

Q. Your costs are based on a per person, per day formula ! Does that include the time that our staff are completing On-The-Job components?

  • A. No. Our costs are limited to the time that we conduct the face-to-face sessions. Our cost structure does include many other facets of the course away from the classroom but these are inclusive of our quote. These other areas include research, writing and design, course development, marking of assessments, compiling assessment lists, course reports, feedback analysis and other administration. We do not charge for consultations with clients during the design of customised courses.

Q. I have staff who have completed stages of the public courses through other agencies. As the public courses are extremely limited, can we send them to you instead?

  • A. Yes. Our staff are familiar with the public courses run by other agencies and RTOs We are obliged to recognise equivalent qualifications issued elsewhere and/or provide recognition (of prior learning or current competencies) where evidence can be shown that the required competencies have been met. We will accept students from other recognised courses into our programs and provide credit accordingly.

We guarantee that no student who is partway through courses and programs at other institutions will be disadvantaged. The student will first be required to produce evidence to meet RPL standards and may have to complete the On-The-Job "Field Practice Workbook", or an Assessment Only pathway prior to attending subsequent stages of our corresponding programs.
  • There is a fee for processing recognition applications based on the number of modules you request. We may be able to give further recognition of current competencies depending on the students' experience in the job. If interested, applicants are interviewed first then given a Recognition Guide to sort out their application and hopefully fast track through the course.

Q. Does Em-Four provide other courses that are not necessarily based on Training Package Qualifications?

  • A. Yes. Em-Four already lists a number of short courses and has the people and skills to customise and design a range of short seminars and courses on specific courses to meet the client's needs.
  • These courses can be offered if three forms:

  • Short workshops with a Certificate of Attendance or

  • Short workshops aligned to a national unit of competency with an assessment and feedback component for every student. This may add between half to two days to the course. A Statement of Attainment of that Competency Unit will be issued on its successful completion.
  • Single issue workshops. A particular skill, technique, or purpose is met as per the client's specifications.
